Arooba Younas, Research Assistant at CASS Lahore, specialises in qualitative, interdisciplinary studies. She holds an MPhil in Political Science from Forman Christian College (a Chartered University). Her areas of interest include non-traditional security and foreign policy.
Education
She holds an MPhil in Political Science from Forman Christian College (a Chartered University) (FCCU), where she was valedictorian and awarded a Gold Medal for academic distinction. Prior to that, she got her Bachelors of Social Science in Geography and Resource Management from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), where she graduated with first class honours.
Professional Experience
Previously, she worked as a Research Assistant for Professor Dong Dong in the Department of Public Health, CUHK, where she contributed to the ongoing research projects targeting the South Asian ethnic minorities residing in Hong Kong.
She has also built upon her MPhil thesis by conducting primary research funded by FCCU’s Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC).
Areas of Interest
Her primary areas of interest include non-traditional security encompassing climate change and mental health. Her broader research interests range from terrorism, foreign policy, and information and psychological warfare.
Academic Contributions
Her research on Pakistan’s mental health policy has been presented at an international conference and has been published in an international and local journals. Prominent among them is a research paper published by Wiley titled, “A Comparative Analysis of the Indian Lunacy Act 1912 and Pakistan’s Mental Health Ordinance 2001” (Dec 6, 2024).
