Muneeb Salman, Associate Senior Researcher at CASS Lahore, has a keen interest in Pakistan’s foreign and security policies, strategic culture, epistemic communities, and the sociology of elites.
Education
Muneeb holds BS and MPhil degrees from the Department of International Relations at National Defence University, where he received the President’s Gold Medal for the MPhil batch of 2022-2024. He also received research and professional training at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and ADA University, Azerbaijan.
Professional Experience
He has worked at several public and private think tanks in Islamabad for more than five years, including the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI), and the Maritime Study Forum (MSF). He also worked for over a year as a Research Assistant with a senior faculty member at the National Defence University and led the pioneer social media team at the Department of International Relations.

His research interests include Pakistan’s foreign and security policies, strategic culture, epistemic communities, and the sociology of elites, with a focus on the role of elites in policy processes.
Academic Contributions
Muneeb has published peer-reviewed literature in internationally recognised journals on gender and security, Pakistan’s CVE efforts, and maritime security policies. He has presented his research on devising a prosopography of Pakistan-based security sector experts at the University of Lausanne. His opinion pieces have appeared in national and international platforms, including South Asia @ LSE, CIMSEC, and The Express Tribune. He has also engaged widely with media on national issues.
The Centre for Aerospace & Security Studies (CASS) was established in July 2021 to inform policymakers and the public about issues related to aerospace and security from an independent, non-partisan and future-centric analytical lens.
