Education
He holds a Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Punjab, Lahore and a Post-Graduate diploma in International Political Relations from IIAP, Paris.

Professional Experience
Ambassador Muhammad Haroon Shaukat (Retd) served nearly four decades in Pakistan’s Foreign Service, holding senior leadership positions both at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in key diplomatic postings abroad. He was Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey (also accredited to Macedonia and Kosovo), where he received the Distinguished Services Award from the Turkish Foreign Minister in 2014, the first Pakistani Ambassador to be so honoured. He also served as Ambassador to Brazil with concurrent accreditation to multiple Latin American states, and earlier as Consul General in New York. At the Foreign Office, he served as Special Secretary and Additional Foreign Secretary (Afghanistan and ECO), besides holding senior portfolios on the United Nations and South Asia. He represented Pakistan at the UN Security Council (1993–94) and in several international forums including the UN General Assembly, UNESCO, OIC, NAM, and ECO. His multilateral experience also includes serving with the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL). Following his diplomatic career, he worked with the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), Lahore.
